Whether or not Maryland state Sen. Ulysses Currie (D) faces criminal penalties for failing to properly disclose his employment as a consultant with a company with business before the state legislature, his peers in the Senate will be looking in to his dealings. Senate President Mike Miller (D) has said an ethics investigation will be convened to assess Currie's potential violations of disclosure requirements.

It turns out that Maryland state Senator Ulysses Currie (D), who is being investigated for failing to report his outside employment as a consultant to a company on his official disclosure forms, may have been doing favors for the company since 2003. Shoppers Food Warehouse employed Currie as a consultant, but he never reported that relationship as required by Maryland state law.

Ha ha ha...ewww. Man, some people will do anything to close a deal. Ex-Los Angeles city commissioner Leland Wong is on trial for 21 different felony charges and Troy Edwards, an aide to the former mayor, James Hahn, testified yesterday that Wong gave him Lakers tickets and offered to pick up the tab at a local massage parlor as part of a scheme to get the mayor's office to approve a deal for a Taiwanese company. Please file this under "yep, some politicians sure are are sleazy."

The investigation into Maryland state Senator Ulysses Currie (D) is heating up. A grand jury has issued a subpoena to the Maryland Department of Legislative Services for all documents pertaining to Currie. The investigation centers on Currie's outside consulting relationship with Shoppers Food Warehouse and Currie's failure to report that relationship, despite presiding over legislation that concerned the company.

New York Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno's (R) employment with a Connecticut company with which several Albany unions have invested their pension funds is the subject of a federal investigation. The potential conflict of interest has arisen out of two years worth of investigation into Bruno's employment. The New York Times has the details.
