Research and Communications Intern
Summer 2009
Job Description :
Nothing sends heads to the desk faster than chat about “campaign finance reform” but at Public Campaign, the leading national organization working to win full public financing of elections, we know that the ways campaigns for elected office are financed in this country affects the day to day lives of every American whether she’s taking out a student loan to pay for college, filling up her gas tank or going to the doctor. Come join our communications team this summer and get hands-on education on how to drive the message behind important legislation at the state and federal level. Apply your writing, research, and project management skills to our work with various media: learn how to put together strong email campaigns to our activists, draft an op-ed, help build our web-based campaigns, try your hand at blogging, and call a reporter to two in between learning how to connect the money-in-politics dots between campaign contributions and special interests public policy in a year when election spending promises to break all records. Term: June 10th – August 7th. This position is 40 hrs./week
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate for this position will have superior oral and written communications skills, good attention to detail, a strong interest in politics and/or social justice, and a sense of humor. Experience with web and graphic design is a plus.
Salary and Benefits :
Stipend: $150/week

Remembering Doris "Granny D" Haddock posted by Adam Smith on 03-10-2010 Doris "Granny D" Haddock, a hero to us here at Public Campaign, passed away yesterday in New Hampshire at the age of 100. Just ten years ago, at the age of 90, she walked 3,000 miles across the country to Washington, D.C. to protest our political system that too often prizes big donors over the needs of everyday Americans.
