The Los Angeles City Ethcs Commission is debating the specifics [1]of a full public financing proposal to put before the city council - as well as when to advance that proposal, and whether it will be slated to appear on the city ballot in March.
The Council is considering the impact of Propositon 89, the state-wide Clean Elections initiative to be voted on in just a couple of weeks, on a city-wide proposal, and putting together a tentative proposal that would establish a public financing option provided candidates meet a certain threshold of qualifying contributions.
