Thank you for notifying me of North Carolina's publically funded elections board, and setting an example for the rest of the country to follow.

clean elections in NC

Publicly funded elections mean NOTHING if the candidates have the option to opt in or out.

They are only meaningful if all candidates, at every level of publicly-elected government are required to use only public funds.

Growing acceptance

Thanks for posting this, Katie.

Wayne is a leader in a growing movement of current and former statewide candidates and office holders who are saying "enough is enough".

From first-time candidates to public servants with three-decade tenures, these civic leaders clearly recognize, from the inside, that the current system doesn't work, and that for candidates who want to campaign among real people and avoid money with potential strings attached, a Clean Elections / Voter-Owned Election system is the best solution.

Combined with the ever-growing numbers of regular every-day citizens voters the say our elections system is broken and who are ready for reform, we have a movement in North Carolina that we believe is ready for another big breakthrough.

Thanks again for posting Wayne's article.

clean elections and third party

I believe we need clean elections nation wide in the USA. We have been RULED by the two party Plutocracy for too long. The only way we will ever have a government "...of the people, for the people and by the people..." is: 1. Clean elections, (tax payer supported) With equal spending limits. No private funds. 2. All elections decided by a simple majority of votes. 3. All electronic voting must have and leave a paper trail. That is print Name, address, age, and party affilation on a stored double copy of all voters that vote, cross check it against a full voter database. Print a copy of the voting record at the voting princt and at the county voting office, as well as give the voter a copy of s/he voted for. This will serve to prevent voter fraud. 4. Form a third party that will support a flat tax or a national sales tax. The party should also support a national constitutional convention. Not by congress. The convention would support electing the rpesident by popular vote and do away with the Electoral College.
