Clean Elections supporters in Washington celebrated a victory yesterday with the passage of a bill lifting the decade-plus ban on publicly financed elections. Called a Local Choice/Local Option bill, it repealed a ban put in place in 1992 and now opens the door for municipalities to introduce legislation creating full public financing systems for their elections. Congratulations Washington!

Long Term Relationship posted by Katie Schlieper on 07-23-2008 It turns out that Maryland state Senator Ulysses Currie (D), who is being investigated for failing to report his outside employment as a consultant to a company on his official disclosure forms, may have been doing favors for the company since 2003. Shoppers Food Warehouse employed Currie as a consultant, but he never reported that relationship as required by Maryland state law.
