Weekend Going Out Guide: Fundraiser Edition

Submitted by Adam Smith on Fri, 02/22/2013 - 16:17

Going Out Guide

It’s a cold gray February in Washington, so why not spend your weekend golfing in Florida, skiing in Wyoming, or wining and dining in New York City? A few members of Congress (and at least one candidate) are spending some time this weekend raising campaign cash—and you can join them for just a few thousand bucks.

Here are this weekend’s fundraisers, according to the Sunlight Foundation’s Political Party Time:

  • The National Republican Senatorial Committee is holding its “Winter Retreat” at The Breakers resort in Palm Beach, Florida. Events include deep-sea fishing, tennis, and golf. Cost to attend: $15,000 for individuals, $5,000 for PACs.
  • Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) is going skiing in Lake Tahoe, California at Heavenly Mountain Resort. It’s $2,500 for PACs and $1,000 for individuals.
  • Wyoming Senators John Barrasso (R) and Mike Enzi (R) are both having big donors out to their home state this weekend. Barrasso is holding his “Sixth Annual Winter Snow Fling” in Jackson Hole. Enzi is having “Dinner in the Tetons” at the Snake River Lodge and Spa. That’s $2,500 for PAC or $1,000 for an individual.
  • Candidate Elizabeth Colbert Bush (D), running for a House seat in a special election in South Carolina, has two New York City events with her brother Stephen Colbert and two back in Charleston.

So get your checkbook and grab your clubs, your ski mask, or a new outfit at Nordstrom’s and go have some fun!
