Nancy Pelosi to Bill Maher: Let's Disclose, Amend, Reform, and Empower

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi appeared on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday and briefly talked about the need to address our broken political system.

Transcript:

Pelosi said, "We have to restore confidence in our economy and restore confidence in our democracy by reducing the role of money in politics and increasing the level civility. If you do that, you will elect more women, more minorities, more young people."

And later in the interview, she said:

"On the subject of money in politics and the rest - I have a DARE. Disclose, who are these people. Amend the constitution to overturn Citizens United. Reform. Let's have public financing of campaigns. And Empower. The president said in his speech why should have to wait in line all of that time in order to vote. One hour they should be able to vote. And so, I think that will increase the number of people coming to the polls who need to have their voices heard and I'm optimistic about it."
