Busy Week For Fair Elections Campaign in New York

Submitted by John Papagiannis on Fri, 04/06/2012 - 18:04

The campaign to bring Fair Elections to New York state held events all over the state this week. There were town hall meetings in Brooklyn and Manhattan, as well as press events in all corners of the state. For too long, Albany has had a reputation as a bastion of corruption and pay-to-play politics. Public Campaign, along with state partners from across the political spectrum, are working hard to restore faith in New York state government by passing small donor based campaign finance reform.

In his state of the state address, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) signaled his support for cleaning up Albany with Fair Elections, giving the campaign a powerful voice. That, coupled with a vast grassroots campaign will hopefully return state government to one that is of, by, and for the people, not bought and sold by wealthy interests.

Here's some coverage of events in Binghampton and Buffalo. Here's coverage of a press event in Syracuse. And earlier this week, Fair Elections for New York campaign partner, Working Families Party, release a report on the (legal) corruption of former state Senator Pedro Espada.

Check out some photos from the Fair Elections events here.
