The Chronicles of Money, Politics, and the Pay-to-play D.C. Culture from the Preeminent Expert in the Field

Submitted by John Papagiannis on Fri, 11/04/2011 - 18:25

A recap of Public Campaign and Public Campaign Action Fund's (PCAF) work from October 31 through November 4, 2011.

  • Two wrongs don't make a right. Here's Public Campaign President & CEO Nick Nyhart in the Huffington Post yesterday on the idea floating around about scrapping campaign contribution limits all together.
  • He, of all people, would know. Former corrupt lobbyist extraordinaire and convicted felon Jack Abramoff will appear on 60 Minutes on Sunday, Excerpts from his interview speak volumes on pay-to-play Washington, D.C.
  • Apparently sexual harassment allegations and possible violations of campaign finance law is good for the ol' campaign coffers. Despite offering a how-to guide on how NOT to handle a scandal, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain's fundraising see's a boost amid troubles.
  • A penny, er, maxed-out campaign contribution, for your thoughts? Rep. Kristi Noem (R-S.D.) becomes the latest member of Congress to invite campaign donors to testify at hearings.
  • Now this is scary. Public Campaign Action Fund outfits darling of the 1%, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, with an appropriate Halloween costume.
  • Mailing it in. PCAF is targeting special interest favorite, Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce, with a series of mailings in his recall election. The mail pieces focus on Pearce's corruption and special interest ties.

As always, be sure to keep up with all the latest news on money-in-politics. Here's a link to our daily clips.
