The Chronicles of Money, Politics, and How to Call the Fat Cats Fat

Submitted by John Papagiannis on Fri, 06/24/2011 - 13:35

Here's a round-up of Public Campaign and Public Campaign Action Fund's work for the week of June 20-24, 2011.

  • The Koch brothers head to Vail, CO. Colorado Common Cause, along with allies, await.
  • It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a Mitt Romney "Super PAC"...to be run by a lobbyist, of course. Here's Public Campaign Action Fund's take.
  • This blog post from the Public Campaign Voter Blog tackles an op-ed from Virginia that begs the question: "who has time to govern when there's fundraising to do?"
  • SHOCK: Big Money Mitch sides with Wall Street. Public Campaign Action Fund crunched the numbers and it's easy to see why.
  • It's that time of year again. The end of the fundraising quarter fastly approaches, which means little governing, and lots of fundraisers!
  • It may not be pretty, but Rep. Darrell Issa needs to take a look in the mirror.
  • Cacheris 22? Federal prosecuters appealed his (U.S. District Judge James Cacheris) ruling that corporations are just people, who can give campaign cash directly to candidates. Remember that whole 100 years of precedent thing? Just ignore that.
  • How do you go into an all-you-can-eat restaurant and call everybody fat? Former governor, and current presidential candidate, Buddy Roemer shows us the way.
