Larry Bucshon's Field Hearing Features Donor Witnesses

Submitted by Adam Smith on Tue, 06/07/2011 - 14:28

The Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions of the the Education & the Workforce Committee of the U.S. House will hold a hearing today in the district of Rep. Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.) on “The Recent Health Care Law: Consequences for Indiana Families and Workers.”

Maybe it should be renamed “Consequences for Larry Bucshon’s Donors,” as three of the witnesses are tied to donations to Bucshon’s 2010 election campaign, according to Public Campaign analysis of data from the Center for Responsive Politics.

  • Sherry Lang, the HR director for Womack Restaurants, will testify at the hearing. The owner of Womack Restaurants, Scott Womack, donated $3,000 to Buchson’s 2010 election.
  • Denis Johnson, the VP of operations for Boston Scientific, will also testify. The Boston Scientific PAC gave Bucshon $1,000 in 2010.
  • Dr. David Carlson, a witness and general surgeon at Deaconess Hospital, donated $1,700 to Bucshon’s election campaign.

Bucshon joins a long line of members this session inviting donors to testify at hearings.
