SHORT FILM: New Animated Film Sheds a Light on Citizens United and the Corporate Takeover of our Democracy

Submitted by John Papagiannis on Tue, 03/01/2011 - 22:13

The Story of Stuff Project has a new animated short film by award-winning internet filmmaker, Annie Leonard, that tackles the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United v. FEC. "The Story of Citizens United v. FEC: Why Democracy Only Works When People Are In Charge" chronicles the rise of corporations in America and discusses how Citizens United has made them an even more powerful force in our democracy. The film ends by calling for, among other things, Fair Elections-style reform for our elections.

From the halls of Congress to state legislatures all over the country, we're all seeing the impact that corporate interests are having over our politics. This video offers a clear and concise synopsis of how we got to this point and where we can go from here.
