Congress Must Address Broken Political System

Business leader Murray Galinson says Congress must overhaul our current system of financing campaigns and pass the Fair Elections Now Act."Members of Congress are as dependent on special-interest money to finance campaigns as they are to the votes they need on Election Day. That means that Congress has two bosses: a relatively few number of big donors on one side, and the voters in their districts on the other. Too often, the views of these two bosses diverge."...House leadership should send this bill to the floor during the lame-duck session. In a democracy, “we the people” hire elected officials. Under the Fair Elections Now Act, the voters would be in charge."Click here to read the full op-ed.
