Moving Big Donors Out of Politics

Submitted by Monica Rober on Thu, 09/23/2010 - 20:42

What do the former head of SEIU and a former strategist for Bush and McCain have in common? They both want Fair Elections!Andy Stern and Mark McKinnon have an op-ed today in Politico urging support for the Fair Elections Now Act: "We believe members of Congress will also see this in their self-interest. We’ve never met a member of Congress that likes raising money. There’s nothing more soul-shattering than racing around the country like it’s a giant Monopoly board, scooping up checks anywhere you can. That drains our elected leaders of the energy and time we need them to spend on solving problems. "If we can agree on this, surely others can. Too much is at risk – democracy itself – to put this issue off any longer"
