57 House members voted to remove contribution limits

Submitted by Adam_Smith on Thu, 06/24/2010 - 21:25

In the final debate in the House over the DISCLOSE Act, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) offered an amendment that would remove all contribution limits to federal candidates.   As our friend Adam Mason at Iowa CCI said on the amendment: “It’s unconscionable that Rep. Steve King wants to give even more power to the corporate interests and lobbyists funding our elections,” said Adam Mason, State Policy Organizing Director at Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (Iowa CCI). “I doubt that constituents in Iowa’s 5th district think Rep. King should be spending his time allowing BP executives or Wall Street bankers to give unlimited sums of cash to political candidates.”  Luckily, the amendment failed, but 56 of Rep. King’s colleagues voted with him to remove limits on the size of campaign contributions to Congressional candidates. So who are these 57 members that want to allow unlimited contributions from wealthy interests like BP executives and Wall Street bankers to members of Congress?  Here's the list:   First Name Last Name Party/State Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) Rob Bishop (R-UT) Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) Kevin Brady (R-TX) Paul Broun (R-GA) Dan Burton (R-IN) John Campbell (R-CA) Eric Cantor (R-VA) John Carter (R-TX) Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) Mike Conaway (R-TX) John Culberson (R-TX) David Dreier (R-CA) Vernon Ehlers (R-MI) Jeff Flake (R-AZ) Trent Franks (R-AZ) Scott Garrett (R-NJ) Phil Gingrey (R-GA) Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) Kay Granger (R-TX) Tom Graves (R-GA) Ralph Hall (R-TX) Doc Hastings (R-WA) Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) Wally Herger (R-CA) Duncan Hunter (R-CA) Darrell Issa (R-CA) Sam Johnson (R-TX) Jim Jordan (R-OH) Steve King (R-IA) Jack Kingston (R-GA) Doug Lamborn (R-CA) Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) Dan Lungren (R-CA) Connie Mack (R-CA) Mike McCaul (R-TX) Tom McClintock (R-CA) Patrick McHenry (R-NC) Gary Miller (R-CA) Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) Devin Nunes (R-CA) Pete Olson (R-TX) Ron Paul (R-TX) Ted Poe (R-TX) Tom Price (R-GA) Denny Rehberg (R-MT) Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) Ed Royce (R-CA) Pete Sessions (R-TX) John Shadegg (R-AZ) John Shimkus (R-IL) Adrian Smith (R-NE) Glenn Thompson (R-PA) Mac Thornberry (R-TX) Todd Tiahrt (R-KS) Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) Don Young (R-AK)
