The Supreme Court and Big Money in Campaigns

Submitted by Monica Rober on Fri, 06/18/2010 - 18:38

Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) wrote a letter to the editor in The New York Times about the recent U.S. Supreme Court order in Arizona and urges passage of the Fair Elections Now Act. "But it’s important to point out that this decision does not affect the Fair Elections Now Act, federal legislation I’ve introduced with Representative John B. Larson similar to Maine and Arizona’s clean elections law. This bipartisan legislation was carefully crafted to avoid the court challenges that have affected the Arizona law. I’ll continue to fight for these state systems on the merits and work with my colleagues in the House to pass the Fair Elections Now Act."Click here to read the full letter.
