Stop the Chase for Campaign Cash

Submitted by Monica Rober on Fri, 02/26/2010 - 15:30

Agnes Gund, a philanthropist and major political donor, has an op-ed in today's Politico about Citizens United and the need for Fair Elections. "I’ve seen firsthand the unsustainable rise in the cost of running for office and how that makes good people spend far too much time “dialing for dollars.” I am often on the other end of these calls. "I’m troubled at the effort and time our leaders must spend to meet their astronomical fundraising goals. With millions of Americans still jobless, and other big issues unresolved, members of Congress should be focused on what they were elected for — addressing our nation’s challenges — instead of searching for their next campaign check."Click here to read the full op-ed.
