Impartial Justice Bill Passes!

Submitted by Monica Rober on Fri, 11/06/2009 - 20:55

Yesterday the Wisconsin Legislature passed the Impartial Justice Bill, which would provide public financing for state Supreme Court races. Gov. Jim Doyle (D) is expected to sign the bill."According to Jay Heck, executive director for Common Cause Wisconsin, the bill will create a check-off option on Wisconsin income tax forms to give taxpayers the option of donating $3 to a public “Democracy Fund” for Supreme Court races, similar to the way public financing works in presidential elections."Jay Heck will be on Wisconsin Public Television tonight, speaking about the bill.
