Common Cause President Opines in South Carolina

Submitted by Johnny Papagiannis on Thu, 02/19/2009 - 17:39

Common Cause President and CEO, Bob Edgar, along with South Carolina Common Cause Executive Director, John Crangle penned an op-ed column in South Carolina’s The State newspaper supporting public financing of campaigns as the solution to the pay-to-play politics that have dominated the news recently.  “It is time to end the pervasive conflicts of interest in the pay-to-play system, open the door to more citizen participation in the electoral process by encouraging small donations, and restore a measure of confidence in the integrity of our institutions and the people who serve them,” they said.
