…You get a Senate seat, you get a Senate Seat, you get a Senate seat…

Submitted by Johnny Papagiannis on Mon, 01/26/2009 - 19:30

On the very day that his impeachment trial for corruption involving an attempt to sell President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat is set to begin in the Illinois state Senate, ABC News has reported that Gov. Rob Blagojevich (D-Ill.) strongly considered appointing Oprah Winfrey to fill the vacancy.  The Governor has decided to skip his trial and hit the talk show circuit. He will appear on The View and Larry King Live, among others, to make his case in the court of public opinion. Gov. Blagojevich, who has recently likened his plight to the struggles of Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, claims that the impeachment trial cannot possibly be fair and will boycott the proceedings. While referring to the trial as a “lynching” and a “trampling of the constitution,” Gov. Blagojevich remains defiant. Meanwhile, his wild antics in the media will continue to provide fodder for the late-night talk shows and for reform-minded people who want corruption out of our politics.
