No reform? No money

Submitted by Adam_Smith on Fri, 01/09/2009 - 22:08

The past election cycle seemed like a banner year for small donors—they got plenty of press and everyone was talking about them. Now Change Congress is asking these donors to harness their power to change the way Washington works.Last night, Change Congress launched a “strike for change” petition asking that campaign donors pledge to withhold campaign contributions from any member of Congress that does not announce their support for Clean Elections, or full public financing of elections.“The real objective is to create a system where nobody could believe that Congress is doing what they’re doing because it was bought by special interests,” Larry Lessig, founder of Change Congress and a professor at Stanford, told the Associated Press.Visit Change Congress to learn more about this new campaign.
