Props to Arizona

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Wed, 10/01/2008 - 19:03

Arizona's ground-breaking Clean Elections program gets a talking up in both Ohio and Indiana. Mike Becker of the Arizona Clean Elections Institute explains why the state's public financing program would be a good model for Ohio to follow, in this Cleveland Plain Dealer article and an Indiana radio station covers testimony given in the state legislature on the merits of Clean Elections from Arizona legislators and Maine Clean Elections candidates as well. Participation in Arizona's Clean Elections program has grown steadily since the law was first passed a decade ago, and despite relentless opposition from a small but determined group of people has continued to thrive in the state and encourage more competitive races, and a more diverse group of small donors involved in the political process.
