Clean Elections Comes First

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Thu, 07/31/2008 - 20:02

Wanda Mead Campbell of Binghamton, New York has a letter published in today's Ithaca Journal pointing out the many badly needed policy decisions that will never happen so long as candidates for the state legislature must turn to special interests to raise campaign cash every few years. The only solution, she writes, is Clean Elections for New York. From her letter: Think about rising insurance costs, rising cost of prescription medications and medical care in general, rising cost of disposing of all those water bottles that litter on the highways. Think about who benefits from the current laws. Is it you or the insurance company, the pharmaceutical company, the bottling company? Think about what democracy really means — rule of, by, and for the people. Let us take back our power in New York and vote only for candidates who support clean money and clean elections.
