Republican Tim Ackert is running for the state House for district 8 and collected the requisite number of small qualifying contributions to receive public financing to run his campaign. This is Connecticut's first election cycle where Clean Elections funding is available, and participation among incumbents and challengers alike is expected to be quite high.
