Update from press conference in Annapolis

Submitted by Adam_Smith on Fri, 03/14/2008 - 15:30

As I mentioned yesterday, Public Campaign along with Common Cause and Progressive Maryland released a report yesterday on the correlation between energy deregulation and campaign contributions. With deregulation legislation that was so harmful to consumers and their pocketbooks and the fact that the electric utility industry has donated over $1 million to legislative and statewide candidtes in the state, there is the appearance of influence by campaign donors.Public Campaign staff joined Progressive Maryland and Common Cause at a press conference in the state house in Annapolis yesterday to release the report. Sean Dobson with Progressive Maryland and Ryan O'Donnell with Common Cause talked about the appearance of influence brought on by those giving campaign contributions The Sun ran a small story about the press conference today, and the Baltimore NBC station also ran a story that you can watch below.
