Democracy Matters! It does!

Submitted by Adam_Smith on Wed, 02/13/2008 - 14:19

This weekend I was fortunate to be able to go to the 8th annual Democracy Matters Summit in Albany, NY. Democracy Matters is a student organization that, "through campus-based chapters throughout the country, we focus on the issue of private money in politics and other pro-democracy reforms."I always have a great time when I go to this summit. This year there were over 150 students from campuses across the country - from UC Davis in California to IUPUI in Indianapolis and everywhere in between. The enthusiasm these students have for Clean Elections is amazing. From the few workshops I lead and the students I talked to, they have a lot of great plans for this semester and next year. With all of these students excited about the issue, opponents of Clean Elections better watch out! Here is a picture of of Angela from Public Citizen and me on the opening night panel: And here is a group picture. There were so many students some couldn't fit in the frame!
