Over 7,000 Sign Letter to FEC

We just faxed in the letter to the FEC opposing a ruling that would hamper the ability of small donors to support presidential candidates running with public financing. Thanks to the fast action of Public Campaign members we were able to fax upwards of 7,000 signatures of support along with the letter (that's 40 printed pages of signatures!). Here's our release on the letter and signatures.

Here's the statement from Public Campaign's President and CEO, Nick Nyhart:

"In the age of million dollar bundlers, the FEC should be concerned about amplifying the voice of those who aren't able to write thousand dollar checks [. . .]. Today, we're sending a letter to the FEC signed by more than 7,000 citizens concerned with making elections about voters and not big campaign donors.

"Major donors and campaign bundlers are playing a bigger role in today's elections than ever before. The FEC should recognize the democratizing nature of online giving and reject the proposed ruling."

Thanks to all of you who signed the letter. We'll keep you updated on the FEC's decision.

. . . . .

There should be public financing of national & other elections. this would be more fair.
