Jason Perillo, Republican candidate in the special election for the seat in Connecticut's 113th district, became the first candidate to qualify for public financing under the state's new Clean Elections program. His Democratic opponent, James Orazietti, is also working to qualify. Perillo collected $3,750 in donations of between $5 and $100 and will receive a state grant of $18,750 to run his campaign. The election is next month.
