Our super intern Anne Smedinghoff has written the following about a new Public Campaign fact sheet: With the recent focus on troop surges in Iraq, it might come as a shock that there are actually more government contractors working on re-building the country than soldiers. No-bid and limited competition contracts under this administration have more than doubled However, more contracts do not necessarily mean more work is getting done. Waste, mismanagement, and fraud are all too prevalent among contractors in Iraq. Public Campaign’s new fact sheet, “Re-Building Iraq: One Campaign Contribution at a Time,” highlights this rise in government contract abuse and follows the money to the campaign contributions by defense contractors.
