New Jersey Candidates On Ethics

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Fri, 08/03/2007 - 21:14

Candidates in New Jersey's 14th District, which is participating in the state's Clean Elections pilot program, have found campaign finance and ethics prominent topics of debate on the campaign trail, and in this article several share their opinions on what needs to be done to clean up government and restore voter faith in government and in elections.Assembly members Bill Baroni and Linda Greenstein speak highly of the Clean Elections alternative which several are taking advantage of, while others focus on more transparency on how public funds are spent, and harsher penalties for corrupt politicians. A strong performance of the Clean Elections pilot in the three districts where it's an option this year will go a long way towards expanding this policy to other offices, and keeping the conversation going on how to stamp out the era of big money politics.
