Pick Me, Pick Me!

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Mon, 04/16/2007 - 18:32

Two members of New Jersey's General Assembly, a Republican and a Democrat, co-author this editorial in today's Trenton Times making an appeal to have the 14th district picked as the "swing" district in New Jersey's next round of the Clean Elections pilot program, which will include three districts: one solidly Democrat, one Republican, and one in the middle.  Linda Greenstein and Bill Baroni argue that the 14th district's history as a fiercely competitive electiong ground with high voter turnout in an expensive media market that puts even greater emphasis on collecting big money to push ad buys is a strong choice for testing out the Clean Elections alternative. The decision on which "swing" district will be part of the Clean Elections program will be made soon -- it will be very interesting to watch this play out!
