Sallie Mae I Get A Loan?

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Wed, 02/14/2007 - 21:04

About this time of year eyes start turning to the mailbox waiting for acceptance letters from colleges and universities. If you're set to head off to college (or send a child) you're no stranger to the skyrocketing cost of higher education, and the looming burden of student loans you may have to shoulder. The student loan industry counts on a powerful lobby in Washington to sway Congress to do their bidding. Read up on how they play the money in politics game here, and how Clean Elections could do something about it.  Many of the most important issues facing voters today have, at their root, a fundamental conflict between the interests of average Americans, and the interests of the wealthy special interests that fund campaigns and court lawmakers for access. Over the coming months we'll be posting periodically on some of those issues, and how they illustrate the ever-growing need to adopt Clean Elections policy at the state and federal level.
