Stricter Standards in Maine?

Maine Citizens for Clean Elections and the state's ethics commission are looking for ways to strengthen Maine's eligibility requirements to receive public financing to run for Governor. This past cycle saw four candidates receive public financing, and concerns have been raised about how much public support a candidate must show to receive public financing. The ethics commission voter today on proposed changes, which include raising the number of small dollar contributions a candidate must raise to qualify for public funding to 3,000.
