Easy Enough

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Thu, 12/07/2006 - 17:45

There is, according to The Washington Post a quick and easy reform that the 109th Congress could pass before it recesses: mandatory electronic filing of Senate campaign finance reports. It would vastly streamline the process by which citizens can find out who's sending which senatorial candidates money, especially in those critical last weeks of a campaign.  There's already a bill in play to require disclosure with bipartisan support and no vocal opposition. Such a disclosure requirement, long in coming, would be a small but important victory for greater public accountability on the part of candidates.
