Changes to Maine Law

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Wed, 12/06/2006 - 19:14

On December 12th, members of Maine's Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices will consider a number of improvements to Maine's Clean Elections Act, including broadening and redefining what kinds of expenditures will trigger "matching funds" for Clean candidates and when. Read more about the proposed changes here.  Maine's Clean Elections Act was passed ten years ago and remains very popular, with 77% of this year's legislative candidates participating in the system. Updates to the Act designed to maintain the health and guiding intentions of Clean Elections show the committment of citizens and legislators alike to keeping Maine Clean.
