New York Needs Clean Elections

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Thu, 10/26/2006 - 15:08

New York's campaign donation limits are easily circumvented, rules regulating lobbying during an election year are few and far between, and incumbents hold tremendous advantage in the fundraising game: the state needs a Clean Elections law and the Albany Times-Union has published an editorial by Public Campaign's Executive Director, Nick Nyhart, explaining why. As Nick writes, there is support for Clean Elections at various levels of government in the state - our task is to take advantage in the coming legislative session to unite this support around a common Clean Elections goal. If you live in New York and would like to get involved in efforts behind Clean Elections in the state, get in touch with Jessica Wisneski at Citizen Action of New York by writing to jwisneski@citizenactionny.org.
