Vote Sí

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Thu, 10/19/2006 - 21:25

La Opinión, the country’s largest Spanish-language daily newspaper, has endorsed Proposition 89, the California Clean Money and Fair Elections initiative.  Citing voter disenfranchisement as a result of the special interest money’s dominance in political campaigns, the paper feels Prop 89 is an essential reform to restore faith in our electoral system and our government. La Opinión recognizes the positive changes Clean Elections has brought about in other states, concluding: “La 89 es una reforma indispensable si se quiere dar algo de confianza a un sistema electoral en el que el dinero parece más importante que el voto.” (Prop 89 is an indispensable reform if we want to have any confidence in an electoral system in which money appears more important than votes.)  Se puede leer el artículo entero aquí.
