Awards for Public Financing

Submitted by Katie Schlieper on Tue, 09/12/2006 - 18:16

Connecticut's Journal Inquirer notes the awards given to Governor Jodi Rell and other lawmakers and activists for their work on behalf of publicly financed elections at our event, Seize the Moment: National Activists Conference on the Public Financing of Elections.  Rell, along with Connecticut's Senate Majority Leader Donald E. Williams Jr., House Majority Leader Christopher G. Donovan of Meriden, and Rep. Christopher L. Caruso, as well as officials from Portland, Oregon, New Mexico and organizers in North Carolina and Rhode Island were recognized for their work and received Most Valuable Player awards for their contributions.     Connecticut made history last year when its legislature became the first to pass Clean Elections-style public financing for itself.
