New Jersey plans to continue and improve the 2005 public financing pilot project for use in 2007. State Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts, speaking on the continuation of the program, noted the potential of public financing to "strengthen the democratic process by keeping special interest money out of elections campaigns."
