Ryan Budget Vote in Senate: "Yes" Votes Have Raked In Insurance Industry Campaign Cash
The Senate just voted on Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wisc.) budget proposal that includes the controversial Medicare provision that would privatize the popular program, hurting seniors, and result in a windfall for the insurance industry. The measure failed by a vote of 57-40.
Not surpringly, the 40 Senators who voted "yes" on the budget have recieved substantial campaign contributions from the insurance industry, totaling $22,093,689, according to analysis by Public Campaign Action Fund, based on data from the Center for Responsive Politics.
