Senate Will See At Least Six New Reform Champions in 2013
People disgusted by the big money that flooded this year’s elections should take heart with the knowledge that the U.S. Senate will see at least six new champions for fixing our broken campaign finance system.
Four U.S. House members who have advocated reform measures like the Fair Elections Now Act in the lower chamber will replace Senators who have been absent or inactive on the issue and two challengers will replace Republicans who refused to support public financing legislation.

On Tuesday, a subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing called “Taking Back Our Democracy” that looked at ways to respond to the stranglehold that special interests hold over our political process, especially after the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.

Senate Hearing: Taking Back Our Democracy
On Tuesday, July 24th, the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights of the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing entitled, “Taking Back Our Democracy: Responding to Citizens United and the Rise of Super PACs."
The hearing will be at 2:30 p.m. in Room 216 of the Hart Senate Office Building.
Subcommittee Chairman Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) will preside.
