Obama's Big Money Bundlers
While President Obama may preach the importance of grassroots donors, he has become increasingly reliant on big money bundlers. The Obama campaign consistently touts those that chip in $5, $10, even $75 dollars, arguing that they are the ones who "make the difference" in email blasts. But it's Hollywood elites, financial heavyweights, and business associates who give big bucks that are being lavished with attention.

Yesterday during a reddit AMA, President Obama called for a constitutional amendment and reiterated his support for DISCLOSE and banning lobbyists from bundling contributions. As HuffPost points out, this isn't necessarily news--Jim Messina said Obama supported the amendment in February--but Obama bringing it up does add more weight.

Update: President Obama's Campaign Begins Accepting Text Message Donations
The Obama campaign has announced that it will begin accepting text message donations this week. After negotiating with most of the big wireless companies, including Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp, they were able to reach an agreement that would allow a new influx of small donations via mobile devices. Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is likely to follow suit.

While much of today's focus will center on the recall election in Wisconsin, the 2012 presidential race is sounding a familiar theme: money, money, money. Soon to be Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, is heading to Texas to raise campaign cash from his chief constiuency, millionaires and billionaires.

Obama Tops $1 Billion
President Obama has now raised more than $1 billion during his political career.
The Daily Caller reports: "His total take reached $1,017,892,305 in April, some nine years after he began his 2004 race for the Senate. Obama is widely expected to raise at least $300 million more before November."
The money chase is only going to get worse from here as money has become the key political currency.
