New York Enviros: "the greatest threat to our environment here in New York may be an unlikely suspect: big money."
The Atlantic Chapter of Sierra Club and WE ACT for Environmental Justice have a compelling op-ed today in Newsday calling for the state legislature to act on Fair Elections legislation that is currently before both houses.
The groups note that they seldom stray from purely environmental issues, but that the big money influence, particularly in the "fracking" fight, has become too much to ignore.

Jim Inhofe's Wild Claim
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) once called global warming "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people." "The Greatest Hoax" is also the title of his new book, which he was promoting on Rachel Maddow's show last night.
As reported by Raw Story, Inhofe "said Thursday night that environmentalists spent far more money lobbying than the energy industry."

Sens. Manchin and Coats go to bat for electric utilities
Senators Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Dan Coats (R-Ind.) will introduce legislation this week to “delay compliance deadlines on two major EPA rules: cross-state air pollution and power-plant mercury standards,” according to the National Journal.
Both have received substantial campaign contributions from the electric utility industry that would benefit from this delay.
