Our friends over at Common Cause have had just about enough of -- well, a whole bunch of things. They've launched a new campaign, "Recapture the Flag" to put a little dignity back in our democracy and get Congress back to working on behalf of its constituents including weeding out corruption and special interest influence over our government. Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation keeps up a blog called Editor's Cut with her reflections on the news and politics. She devotes this entry to issues of democracy that we must pay closer attention to -- from addressing voter fraud, to implementing instant run-off voting, to passing Fair and Clean Elections through Congress to ensure that once those voters make their choices, their representatives are free to represent their interests.

Protecting Our Votes

Today, we'd like to acknowledge the efforts of People For The American Way who, in partnership with several Members of Congress, are working to ensure that when Americans go to vote, they are able to do so free from deception and intimidation, and secure in the knowledge that their votes are counted.
