Fair Election Now Act Re-introduced in Congress
Today the Fair Election Now Act was re-introduced into the 112th Congress. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) was joined by Reps. John B. Larson and Chellie Pingree, as well as actor Alec Baldwin, in a press conference announcing the legislation.

But instead of betting on the games, lawmakers are asking people to bet on their candidacy, holding sports related viewing events and asking often as much as $1,000 for attendance.

New Group Seeks to Strengthen Democracy
A new group, Campaign For Stronger Democracy, is working to protect institutions and policies that help foster a strong, healthy democractic process. They have identified the first threat in this fight as the budget cuts recently passed by the House of Represenatives, which would severely reduce the funding for countless programs, including the presidential public financing system.
