New Jersey Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts (D) says the success of the state's Clean Elections pilot program this year is a strong predictor of expansion in 2009. Roberts says this year's pilot program is "light years ahead" of the Clean Elections experiment in 2005.

Charles Stile of New Jersey's Record drops in on a gathering at which Clara Nibot, a Republican candidate hoping to participate in the state's Clean Election pilot program, works the room for $10 qualifying contributions. It reveals the time and effort that go into being a Clean Elections candidate, and the reactions her requests for donation provoke are telling.

New Jersey to See More Clean Elections

Excellent news. It looks like New Jersey will definitely see another round of its Clean Elections pilot program after great success this year in the three districts that participated. Fifteen of the twenty eligible candidates are running Clean and the state is that much closer to a full-fledged program that will offer the opportunity to run with public financing to candidates statewide.

Good news from New Jersey! The Clean Elections pilot project being run in three districts is being called a success after meeting benchmarks for candidate participation. The pilot program will very probably have another run, and may be expanded to more districts or other offices.

Candidate Loves Clean Elections

New Jersey Assemblymember Bill Baroni (R) is really excited about being a Clean Elections candidate. As one of the authors of the New Jersey Fair and Clean Elections pilot project covering three districts including his own, he talks with the Trenton Times about the change he sees in campaigning and contacting voters now that he is running Clean.
