Youth engagement

Submitted by Adam_Smith on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 16:45

This weekend, I got the privilege to participate in the Mobilize.org grant summit. Their theme this year is money and politics--how do you reduce the role of money or even make it a less important part of the process.  Five groups have submitted their proposals to reduce the influence of money in politics in the hope of receiving a grant from the organization to fund their work. From the larger democracy standpoint (a one stop shop for information on absentee voting) to passing Clean Elections for judicial races in Pennsylvania, there are lots of interesting and innovative ideas here.  On the right is a picture of the panel held Saturday on strategies for passing Clean Elections that I spoke on with Matt Stempek from Americans for Campaign Reform, Josh Zaharoff with Common Cause, and Public Campaign alum and current Sunlight Foundation consultant Nancy Watzman. Mobilize is doing some great work, check them out!.
